Log Diameters and Log Shell Components
Typically our logs are 12"-14" mean diameter. Larger 16"-18" mean diameter logs are also available upon request.
Our log package includes roof ridge beams and purlins, roof trusses, support beams, support posts, log floor joists on 4-6 ft. centers, and interior log walls with archways when applicable. The ridge beams, purlins, support beams, floor joists and pitch logs are cut flat ready to accept dimensional framing. The exterior log walls typically are 9 ft. or 10 ft. high with no visible butt joints. Interior log stairs are included and hand-peeled, assembled railing for stairs, stairwells, lofts, balconies, porches and decks as specified on the drawings. Assembly materials such as C-brackets for attaching the logs to the foundation, steel through bolts, steel pins, screw jacks, sill seal and insulation are also included.
All window and door openings are pre-cut with keyways and temporary keys installed. Mountain State Log Homes offers high quality wood casement and awning windows made in British Columbia specifically for log houses. The windows come already installed in the window bucks for easy installation.
